Chapter 9: Hatred
That night, the small gang slept relatively soundly.
After Alice and BB had fought like sworn enemies (which they kind of were), BB had finally given up and promised to return for 'more fun'. After giving Alice a few minutes to heal herself, they'd found an abandoned house with a cellar, where they'd decided to camp for the night. They discussed more about how to remove L's powers without killing him, eaten dehydrated peas and carrots, and prepared their weapons in case of a surprise attack. The three sisters had taken turns watching out for BB. So far, the oily little murderer hadn't made an appearance, but that didn't ca
Chapter 8: Heart Attack
"Are we there yet?" Sammy asked, playing with the end of her knife.
"Nearly." Watari replied, "Please have patience."
Sammy sighed and leaned against her seat. Jo-Jo flipped some auburn hair from her eyes and inquired, "So, W, let's see if I got the plan."
Watari nodded, "Be my guest."
"We're gonna break into Wammy's House," Jo-Jo began, "Track down BB, and knock him out. Then, we're gonna find some way to take away his powers. Right?"
"Exactly." Watari confirmed with a small smile, "I am still unsure as to how we'll take away his powers, but I am fairly certain that when we do, BB will die and L will return."
"
Chapter 7: A Plan
"We were idiots!" Alice cried as the van zoomed down the road, "We shouldn't have left! Now, BB will probably start killing the kids for his own sick amusement!"
"He won't." Watari assured her calmly. Jo-Jo, who was driving, shared a 'WTF' expression with Sammy and Alice.
The werecat spoke after a long moment, "What do you mean, he won't? Of course he will!"
"Didn't you notice the mask he was wearing?" Watari asked, his white brow arching. Again, the girls exchanged looks.
"Yeah." Sammy nodded, "It looks like something Sam Jones would wear."
Jo-Jo bit back a chuckle as Watari sighed, "He wasn't wearing it as a fashion
Chapter 6: No Longer Welcome
"Watari, BB said something," Jo-Jo started, "He said that Wammy's House was really built to 'contain' him. What does that mean?"
The old man said nothing. He just stared out the window, gazing at the twilight with a mournful expression. He probably thought that if he didn't answer, they'd give up.
Well, he thought wrong.
"Hello?" Sammy snapped, "Why'd you clam up? Talk!"
Watari sighed and rested in his armchair. He turned to the girls and stared at them for a long minute. He spoke, "BB didn't lie."
"What?" Alice snapped, "What do you mean?"
"I mean, Wammy's House was built for two reasons." Watari explained
Chapter 5: Doppleganger
"Hello, is this Miss Alice?"
"Yes. Who is this?"
"My name is John Shears. I'm the brother of the therapist you took your husband to."
Alice paled. She gripped the phone, "Oh my God, sir, I am SO SORRY. I had no idea the meeting would have such disastrous results! I was only trying to help my hus-"
"I know, miss." John assured her soothingly, "I know your intentions were good. My brother knows, too. He's not holding it against you."
Alice sighed in relief, rubbing her face with her free hand. That was a load off her mind. Not only did she feel horribly responsible for the therapist's mutilation, but she'd been cer
Chapter 4: Call It Therapy!
"Hello," Alice shook hands with the doctor, "I'm Alice Vimercati Nolfi. I'm here about my husband?"
"Ah, yes." The doctor nodded, "Welcome, I'm Dr. Shears. What can we do for you?"
"Well," Alice fiddled with her hair, trying to make the problem sound less ridiculous, "My husband...I don't know how to explain it, but...it's like someone else is inside him, sometimes."
That got Dr. Shears' attention. Dead-on. "Like a split personality?"
"Yes."
"Oh, I see." Dr. Shears started fiddling with his wedding band, thinking. After a few endless minutes, he looked up again, "Miss, I think the first step would be to confi
